If you’ve considered a career in the barbering profession, now is the time to act! The barbering course focuses primarily on men's hair and grooming. You will be taught the essential skills and techniques of barbering, state law requirements, and business practices while gaining hands on experience.
Innovative Barber Course
You will be prepared for business when you master haircutting and style, facial treatments, and salon management
Men’s Hair Cutting
In the American Beauty Institute barbering program you learn modern barbering techniques, including how to taper, do side and back fades, and create haircuts that are high and tight. Additionally, you learn how to do flat tops, buzz cuts, military, and razor cutting – just to name a few!
Men’s Grooming
Creative facial hair is very popular these days, so your barbering training includes styles and techniques for beard and mustache trims, how to deal with other facial hair, and how to do facial shaving.
Scalp Treatments
Part of the barber’s customer experience is scalp and facial massages. As part of learning those barber-specific techniques, you’ll also master basic shampooing and hair care.
Women's Basic Haircutting
Barbershops are not just for men anymore. Since more women are going to barbers, you’ll also learn basic styles for women’s haircuts.
Administration and Marketing
In addition to mastering the coursework skills, mastering business skills will greatly contribute to your career. You’ll learn networking skills, how to interact positively and constructively with your customers, product support, interviewing and job placement techniques, and additional theory on professional barbering.
